    Process Post #6: Audience

For this process post I am going to use a prompt that was suggested for week 6. “What audience have you been imagining thus far? How has that imagined audience informed your design and editorial decisions?” The audience I imagine looking at my blog are people who are wanting to learn more about skin care and have no idea where to start. I imagine these people to be ages 18 – 30, this is because of the skin care products that I talk about and review. Also, some of the products I like to use are pricier, so I imagine an audience that is able and willing to spend a…

Peer Review #2: The Kindness Lifestyle

This week for my peer review, I am reviewing Megan’s Blog, “The Kindness Lifestyle” A blog about spreading kindness and doing small things to help encourage kindness in our daily lives. At first glance, I really liked Megan’s page. The blog style matched the topic they were writing about, the colours were soft which was very welcoming and had a calmness to it. The typeface that they chose was also like a handwritten style, which made it the approach more personal and as a reader, more connected to the writer. Using the design elements that Mauvé Page showed us in class, Megan’s blog does a great job in showcasing these…

Banila Co Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm

A couple weeks ago, I did a big K-Beauty skin care haul from Cosmetic Love (use this link for 10% off!) and everything had finally arrived! One of the products I was really excited to try was the Banila Co Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm. What is a cleansing balm? A cleansing balm is an oil based cleanser that is targeted to help take off makeup, oils, SPF and such. It can also be used as the first step of double cleansing (more on this method later!). I was really excited to try this cleansing balm because I have heard great reviews. I also use waterproof eyeliner and mascara, which…

    Beauty Sleep

What? You can take care of your skin while you’re sleeping? Sign me up! One of my best skin care secrets is a silk pillowcase! Not only is it good for your skin but also your hair. How does this make sense? Fabrics such as cotton for example are more absorbent, meaning they soak up moisture in your skin! But with a material like silk, it is not as absorbent, therefore you can still wake up with that glow! I find that with a silk pillow I can still feel my overnight masks and moisturizers on my skin in the morning. This goes the same for your hair, silk pillowcases…

    Process Post #5: Blogspiration

One of my favourite blogs to follow is Chriselle Lim’s, The Chriselle Factor. She is an influencer, and blogger that focuses on fashion, beauty and lifestyle. I love following her day to day life through instagram and watching videos on her YouTube Channel. Whenever I visit Chriselle’s blog, it is generally on my phone, through instagram. I have always found her website easy to navigate and great to look at. I feel like her blog is always changing. What I really enjoy about her blog is that it does not feel like a traditional blog. When you first arrive at the website, there is a giant splash image of her…

Essay #1: Is social media a true democracy?

Social media has a huge presence in today’s society, it has taken over the 21st century by a storm, connecting millions of people through various platforms and mediums. For some people, social media is the very first thing they interact with when they wake up. Whether it is to check for new updates, messages or even the news (Gottfried & Shearer, 2017). When social media platforms such as Facebook first started getting popular, it seemed like it was easy and harmless. This idea that a platform can provide us with an ability to share ourselves and our thoughts was great. But today, as social media plays a huge role in…

    Process Post #4

Week 4 into blogging, it’s starting to get a little easier. After a couple of blog posts, and starting to get into my blog topic, I’m finding it easier to write a post for my blog. In fact, I started to enjoy it so much that I found it hard to actually stop writing. I think one of the things that I need to establish better with my blog is how much content do I want to provide? Do I want to provide super detailed reviews of products or make it short and simple for readers to follow. I think with my blog and it’s genre, I want to make…

    Surviving Winter

Vancouverites saw our first snow of the season just this past weekend and buuurrrr is it cold! With temperatures in the negatives, it feels like my skin is about to crack. Skin routines change just like the seasons do. In the cold and dry winter season, I tend to use heavier and more oil based products. I also like to do more over night masks to help with dryness. Here are some of my favourite winter time products: Summer Friday’s Jet Leg Mask Summer Friday’s Jet Leg mask is one of my favourites! Although it’s a thicker cream texture, it feels light on the skin. It also has a nice,…
