    Aesop Adventure

The other day as I was venturing through Gastown, I came across Aesop. I’ve heard a lot of good things about their products, but I’ve never personally tried the products myself, or really know what their company is about. So, I decided to step in a take a look for myself. Upon entering the little store in Gastown, it was like I was taken to another place. All the products were displayed on the walls, and there was a very friendly (and helpful!) staff member there to greet me. They asked me what I came into the store to look for and I told them that I had never tried…

Process Post #10: Reflection on Public Shaming

I’m writing this process post as a reflection on the video we watched in class today. It was Jon Ronson’s “When Shaming Goes Too Far” TedTalk from 2015. After watching the video, it was a scary reality of what the internet and people can do and is capable of. In the video Jon Ronson explains how a woman tweeted a racist comment before flying on a plane, just for it to be retweeted and then went viral. And yes, what she said was not okay, or if it were suppose to be sarcastic joke, it was a bad joke with no context. But the scariest part of this is the…

    Process Post #9: Twitter Analytics

Process Post Prompt: Analytics (Google, Facebook, Twitter etc.) is a very valuable tool for building your audience. For content creators, knowing how your reader behaves on your website can help enormously with developing the best content, posting at the right time, and developing the appropriate engagement strategies. On the flip side, for the reader or user, it can be tiresome and even worrisome knowing you are providing data trails every where you go online. As I was creating my infographic this week, I discovered that Twitter allows you to view the analytics for your Twitter account. I thought this was really interesting that they provide this information to every twitter user publicly and for…

Peer Review #3: Lily in Stripes

For my third peer review, I will be reviewing Lily in Stripes by Lily Yu. This is a personal/travel blog is about Lily who is from Hong Kong and doing an exchange here in Vancouver. DesignWhen I first approached Lily’s blog, it was simple, elegant and easy to navigate. I liked the banner that had the blog’s title, sub-title and then the image matched the name of their blog which I thought was really clever. Then under the banner there are a few featured blog posts which I believe are the most recent, which made it easy for me to get a glance of the type of blog posts they…

    Sun Kissed Skin

Spring has finally arrived here in Vancouver, BC. The sun is shining with temperatures up to 20 degrees, it is patio season! But this also means sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen (btw sunscreen should be something that you wear on your face everyday regardless if it’s “sunny” or not)! It’s better late than never but if you haven’t already added an SPF Moisturizer or protection to your skin care routine, now may be the best time to start! To start this off, we have to understand what exactly we are trying to protect ourselves from and what exactly does SPF or Sun Protection Factor do? There are two types of UV/Ultra-violet rays…

    Process Post #8: Final Stretch

It’s that time of year again. Final stretch until the end of the semester and if all goes well, hopefully this would be my last one! This semester I decided to finish my classes as well as continue working full time. At first everyone thought I was crazy, taking a full course load as well as working full time but I knew I wanted to finish ASAP. With two publishing courses and one online Contemporary Arts course, this semester has felt manageable until this week. This has been a crazy week for me at work and I started to fall behind. Knowing that I had a couple of late assignments…

    Process Post #7: #FacebookDown

Ahhhhh it happened! Social media has crashed on us! Well only maybe for a few hours but it was really interesting to see everyone’s reactions and comments during #FacebookDown and #InstagramDown. Although having these applications down surprisingly didn’t affect me too much, for others it was like the apocalypse (this will be a great topic to discuss in lecture on Tuesday). On Wednesday, March 13th Facebook and all of the applications it owns Messenger, Instagram, Whatsapp were all experiencing an outage. I first discovered something was wrong when I was trying to send my friend a photo via Messenger. It kept telling me there was an error even though my…

I recently added an essence to my skin care routine! What is an essence? One of the most well known essences is SKII’s Facial Treatment Essence.
