    Process Post #11: The End

This course has come to an end and this will be the last blog post I will create for this course. It is a bittersweet feeling, I am glad that I am finished not only this course, but my last semester as an undergrad but it now all comes to an end. When I first started this course, I had no idea what to expect. At first I was unsure about having to create a blog and keep it maintained every week but I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought. I am someone who does not like to write and has a hard time coming up with what…

    Essay #2: My blog

For this class I created this blog, “Tobi’s Routine”, when we were first asked to think of a topic to create a blog, I had to brainstorm what I wanted to write about. I wrote down things I enjoyed I my life, and things I liked to talk about. For me, it was between three things, cooking, skincare and trying new active things like aerial silks or boxing. I also looked at the different things I followed on social media, as well as the blogs that I liked. One of the one’s that I always look to and have mentioned many times before in this course is Chriselle Lim’s blog,…

Dr. Jart Rubber Mask: Hydration Lover

Dr. Jart is one of my new favourite brands! It is a Korean skincare brand that is available at Sephora. One of the first products I saw from them were these creepy baby face masks, and I finally got to try one. A little while back I decided to order a couple of the Dr. Jart Rubber masks, I chose Hydration Lover and Firm Lover. These are sheet masks, and generally I’m not the biggest fan of sheet masks because I find the results quite temporary and the masks itself are create a lot of waste/packaging but after this mask, my mind might have changed! This mask comes in two…

    Aesop Adventure

The other day as I was venturing through Gastown, I came across Aesop. I’ve heard a lot of good things about their products, but I’ve never personally tried the products myself, or really know what their company is about. So, I decided to step in a take a look for myself. Upon entering the little store in Gastown, it was like I was taken to another place. All the products were displayed on the walls, and there was a very friendly (and helpful!) staff member there to greet me. They asked me what I came into the store to look for and I told them that I had never tried…

Process Post #10: Reflection on Public Shaming

I’m writing this process post as a reflection on the video we watched in class today. It was Jon Ronson’s “When Shaming Goes Too Far” TedTalk from 2015. After watching the video, it was a scary reality of what the internet and people can do and is capable of. In the video Jon Ronson explains how a woman tweeted a racist comment before flying on a plane, just for it to be retweeted and then went viral. And yes, what she said was not okay, or if it were suppose to be sarcastic joke, it was a bad joke with no context. But the scariest part of this is the…

    Process Post #9: Twitter Analytics

Process Post Prompt: Analytics (Google, Facebook, Twitter etc.) is a very valuable tool for building your audience. For content creators, knowing how your reader behaves on your website can help enormously with developing the best content, posting at the right time, and developing the appropriate engagement strategies. On the flip side, for the reader or user, it can be tiresome and even worrisome knowing you are providing data trails every where you go online. As I was creating my infographic this week, I discovered that Twitter allows you to view the analytics for your Twitter account. I thought this was really interesting that they provide this information to every twitter user publicly and for…

Peer Review #3: Lily in Stripes

For my third peer review, I will be reviewing Lily in Stripes by Lily Yu. This is a personal/travel blog is about Lily who is from Hong Kong and doing an exchange here in Vancouver. DesignWhen I first approached Lily’s blog, it was simple, elegant and easy to navigate. I liked the banner that had the blog’s title, sub-title and then the image matched the name of their blog which I thought was really clever. Then under the banner there are a few featured blog posts which I believe are the most recent, which made it easy for me to get a glance of the type of blog posts they…

    Sun Kissed Skin

Spring has finally arrived here in Vancouver, BC. The sun is shining with temperatures up to 20 degrees, it is patio season! But this also means sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen (btw sunscreen should be something that you wear on your face everyday regardless if it’s “sunny” or not)! It’s better late than never but if you haven’t already added an SPF Moisturizer or protection to your skin care routine, now may be the best time to start! To start this off, we have to understand what exactly we are trying to protect ourselves from and what exactly does SPF or Sun Protection Factor do? There are two types of UV/Ultra-violet rays…
