Dr. Jart Rubber Mask: Hydration Lover

Dr. Jart is one of my new favourite brands! It is a Korean skincare brand that is available at Sephora. One of the first products I saw from them were these creepy baby face masks, and I finally got to try one. A little while back I decided to order a couple of the Dr. Jart Rubber masks, I chose Hydration Lover and Firm Lover. These are sheet masks, and generally I’m not the biggest fan of sheet masks because I find the results quite temporary and the masks itself are create a lot of waste/packaging but after this mask, my mind might have changed! This mask comes in two…

    Aesop Adventure

The other day as I was venturing through Gastown, I came across Aesop. I’ve heard a lot of good things about their products, but I’ve never personally tried the products myself, or really know what their company is about. So, I decided to step in a take a look for myself. Upon entering the little store in Gastown, it was like I was taken to another place. All the products were displayed on the walls, and there was a very friendly (and helpful!) staff member there to greet me. They asked me what I came into the store to look for and I told them that I had never tried…

    Sun Kissed Skin

Spring has finally arrived here in Vancouver, BC. The sun is shining with temperatures up to 20 degrees, it is patio season! But this also means sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen (btw sunscreen should be something that you wear on your face everyday regardless if it’s “sunny” or not)! It’s better late than never but if you haven’t already added an SPF Moisturizer or protection to your skin care routine, now may be the best time to start! To start this off, we have to understand what exactly we are trying to protect ourselves from and what exactly does SPF or Sun Protection Factor do? There are two types of UV/Ultra-violet rays…

Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence

I recently added an essence to my skin care routine! What is an essence? One of the most well known essences is SKII’s Facial Treatment Essence. It is a patented formula that is suppose to help with anti-aging, moisture, brightening and all things great for the skin. Many celebrities and influencers swear by it! This is one of the many different essences out there. What an essence does is it helps preps your skin to work better with your skin care products as well as provide its own benefits. You are suppose to cleanse, tone, essence, serums, and then moisturize. After cleaning and toner the skin, it may still feel…

    What’s exfoliating?

Another important step in your skin care routine should be exfoliation! What is it? Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells from your skin. There are different types and levels of exfoliation such as physical or chemical exfoliants up to medical peels and such. Exfoliation will help your skin get a deep cleanse, make your skin glow and help make your skin care products work better! My general rule for exfoliating is to exfoliate 2 – 3 times a week, depending on your skin type, you definitely do not want to over exfoliate! This would cause your skin to be very dry and could damage your skin. I generally like to…

Banila Co Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm

A couple weeks ago, I did a big K-Beauty skin care haul from Cosmetic Love (use this link for 10% off!) and everything had finally arrived! One of the products I was really excited to try was the Banila Co Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm. What is a cleansing balm? A cleansing balm is an oil based cleanser that is targeted to help take off makeup, oils, SPF and such. It can also be used as the first step of double cleansing (more on this method later!). I was really excited to try this cleansing balm because I have heard great reviews. I also use waterproof eyeliner and mascara, which…

    Beauty Sleep

What? You can take care of your skin while you’re sleeping? Sign me up! One of my best skin care secrets is a silk pillowcase! Not only is it good for your skin but also your hair. How does this make sense? Fabrics such as cotton for example are more absorbent, meaning they soak up moisture in your skin! But with a material like silk, it is not as absorbent, therefore you can still wake up with that glow! I find that with a silk pillow I can still feel my overnight masks and moisturizers on my skin in the morning. This goes the same for your hair, silk pillowcases…

    Surviving Winter

Vancouverites saw our first snow of the season just this past weekend and buuurrrr is it cold! With temperatures in the negatives, it feels like my skin is about to crack. Skin routines change just like the seasons do. In the cold and dry winter season, I tend to use heavier and more oil based products. I also like to do more over night masks to help with dryness. Here are some of my favourite winter time products: Summer Friday’s Jet Leg Mask Summer Friday’s Jet Leg mask is one of my favourites! Although it’s a thicker cream texture, it feels light on the skin. It also has a nice,…

    What’s a Toner?

In the “Back to the Basics” blog post I briefly talk about toners and what they do. Here I’ll try to break it down a bit more. If you remember from Science class, a pH scale tells us how basic or acidic something is. It is a scale of 0 -14, 0 being most basic (there’s a joke here) and 14 being the most acidic. Human skin roughly a pH of 5.5. When you wash your face with water, the water is changing the pH of your skin. Water is basic, so when you wash your face it brings the pH level down. Using a toner will help balance this pH.…
